Orlando Museum of Art Presents David LaChapelle’s Largest U.S. Retrospective
The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) is set to present David LaChapelle: As the World Turns, the largest U.S. museum retrospective of the celebrated photographer and director. Opening January 31, 2026, the exhibition spans more than four decades of LaChapelle’s influential work at the crossroads of art, pop culture, fashion, and spirituality.
Curated by OMA Chief Curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon and presented by Stan and Naomi Loomis, the exhibition brings together more than 100 works, from early career milestones to brand-new creations debuting publicly for the first time. Visitors will experience LaChapelle’s evolution through religious imagery, iconic celebrity portraits, bold fashion photography, and large-scale allegorical works exploring faith, environmental fragility, and the human condition.
“I am revealing many new pieces that draw on all of my life experiences,” LaChapelle said. “This exhibition allows different stages and sides of my work to be seen and felt together.”
The exhibition opens with a special red carpet reception on January 30, 2026, featuring an exclusive preview and music.
On Saturday January 31 from 2pm-3:30pm the museum will host an artist talk, LaChapelle in conversation with curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon, followed by a book signing. The event is free to the public - no purchase necessary for signing.
A full lineup of public programs will follow, including photography workshops, a live model drawing class, and an artist lecture and book signing with LaChapelle.
David LaChapelle: As the World Turns will be on view at the Orlando Museum of Art from January 31 through May 3, 2026.
