Mexico City, July 10, 2024. – Mexico City vibrates with the color and vision of one of the most influential photographers in the world. David LaChapelle, renowned for his unique style that fuses fashion, popular culture and fine art, presents together with 212 Productions, two spectacular showcases that capture the imagination of the city.
David LaChapelle: "SAN LÁZARO ILUMINADO" Intervention in the San Lázaro Metro Station
212 Productions, in collaboration with Astrolab, presents an unprecedented art installation at the San Lázaro metro station. With 26 large-format works, LaChapelle transforms the station's windows into a vibrant visual spectacle that surprises locals and tourists. This initiative not only beautifies the urban environment, but also democratizes access to art, reaching more than 800 thousand people who pass through the station daily.
David LaChapelle: AMOR Exhibition at the Palacio de Minería
At the same time, 212 Productions, together with the Palacio de Minería, the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM, and the support of the University of Communication, Flaunt and Neurons.me, presents "David LaChapelle: AMOR". This exhibition, open until July 31, 2024, brings together more than 100 works by the artist, including his new series "Stations of the Cross", presented for the first time in America. The Palacio de Minería thus becomes a cultural epicenter that attracts thousands of visitors, consolidating the impact of LaChapelle's art in the Mexican capital.
During his visit in May, LaChapelle gave two sold-out student talks, one of them at the University of Communication. In addition, two opening events were held: an official ceremony at the Palacio de Minería and a celebratory cocktail at the Casa de la UC, in La Condesa, sponsored by IMPULSE, where prominent personalities from the cultural and artistic fields gathered.
The exhibition has been attended by diplomatic, musical, artistic and entertainment figures. Celebrities such as Ari Maki (Ambassador of Finland), Skrillex (American DJ), and Celia Lora (Actress), among others, have been part of this large-scale cultural event.
Third Activity in Less Than Three Months
In addition, this is the third activity around LaChapelle in Mexico City in less than three months. Recently, the luxurious department store Palacio de Hierro in Polanco organized a multidisciplinary experience that included tributes to the artist. This event, which remained open to the public until June 16, allowed hundreds of students to enjoy his art thanks to the acquisition of tickets that the department store donated.
